World Community Grid is a initiative which mission is to create the largest public computing grid benefiting humanity. Donate the time your computer is turned on, but is idle, to projects that benefit humanity. You only have to download ans install a secure software that does it all for free.
1. Go to World Community Grid and register to get your member name and password. You can join projects (AIDS, muscular distrophy...)
2. Install the software. The software you need is a client named BOINC (Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing).

- Probably, the easier way is to install it through an Ubuntu Package Manager (Synaptic or Adept).
- I have used Synaptic that is part of Ubuntu 7.10. You only have to go to System>Administration>Synaptic package manager, and do a search for "boinc".
- Select boinc-client and boinc-manager and install them.
- Go to Programs>Accesories>BOINC Manager and follow the instructions.
- Select project URL= http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/
- Fill in user (member name) and password you got from registration.
- Wellcome to Wold Community Grid, your computer is now helping to change the world.
